How important are staff in times like these?

We have received many comments on our site about the staff in Irish pubs. Many of them are complimentary whilst some are obviously not. As everybody begins to re-evaluate the choices that they make when spending their money, how does good Staff impact on the decision to drink in one bar as opposed to another. Or is price the deciding factor these days? Is the recession affecting your choices of what really matters? We would love to know what you think

  1. Price is important ,but so too are the staff and their attitude. I have heard of one pub in south Dublin who sacked all the Irish staff and brought in a load of Chinese.

  3. Staff is a very important issue on deciding to drink in a place or not – I recently went for a pint in Capwell Sports Bar and the bar man was extremely rude , abrupt and when approached to complain basically fobbed me off – I left and went to the pub further down the street – what a difference , nice staff and very welcoming – I will never return to the other place

  5. Staff need to be trained not to hold the glass at the top. Watch next time you are in a pub.

  7. Heard staff in the Old Oak Pub. Cork City compaining about people “just coming in to use the pubs broadband and only buying one coffee” This after leaflets were handed out at a local college advertising the Old Oak’s internet access.
